State Bicycle Advisory Committee Appointees Confirmed

On September 4, 2002, the Texas Transportation Commission announced it has approved appointments to the state Bicycle Advisory Committee.  The Committee was originally formed in 1994 to focus on bicycle transportation issues and provide a forum for the exchange of information between the Texas Transportation Commission, Texas Department of Transportation, and users of Texas’ transportation system.

Members of the Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) are:  Gretchen Arnold (Corpus Christi); David DeLeon (McAllen); Andrea Dunn (Garland); Tommy Eden (Austin); Regina Garcia (Houston); Anthony Hoover (Denton); Don Rogers (Dripping Springs); Robin Stallings (Austin); and Michael Wyatt (El Paso).

The members of the BAC represent a broad range of skills, knowledge, and expertise resulting in a diverse group that represents the needs of cyclists at the state level.  The BAC is an avenue through which interested parties may convey their concerns, recommendations, and suggestions regarding system improvements.  The Bicycle Advisory Committee has the immediate task of evaluating projects for the Safe Routes to School program.

On September 30, the BAC held their first meeting in Austin and elected officers.  For more information regarding the BAC please contact Committee Chair Robin Stallings at (512) 567-1181 and StallingsRealty@earthlink.net or Vice Chair Regina Garcia at (713) 522-9306 and regina@nol.net.

See title 43, section 1.85(a)(2) and (8) of the Texas Administrative Code (RQ-0126-JC) to learn more about TxDOT’s advisory committees.
