State Bicycle
Advisory Committee Appointees Confirmed
On
September 4, 2002, the Texas Transportation Commission announced
it has approved appointments to the state Bicycle Advisory
Committee. The
Committee was originally formed in 1994 to focus on bicycle
transportation issues and provide a forum for the exchange
of information between the Texas Transportation Commission,
Texas Department of Transportation, and users of Texas’
transportation system.
Members
of the Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) are:
Gretchen Arnold (Corpus Christi); David DeLeon (McAllen);
Andrea Dunn (Garland); Tommy Eden (Austin); Regina Garcia
(Houston); Anthony Hoover (Denton); Don Rogers (Dripping
Springs); Robin Stallings (Austin); and Michael Wyatt (El
Paso).
The
members of the BAC represent a broad range of skills, knowledge,
and expertise resulting in a diverse group that represents
the needs of cyclists at the state level.
The BAC is an avenue through which interested parties
may convey their concerns, recommendations, and suggestions
regarding system improvements.
The Bicycle Advisory Committee has the immediate
task of evaluating projects for the Safe Routes to School
program.
On
September 30, the BAC held their first meeting in Austin
and elected officers.
