TBC Chair Appointed to TPWD
Committee
AUSTIN -- Texas
Bicycle Coalition Board Chair Jeanne Patterson was recently
named a member of the newly-formed Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department State Parks and Wildlife Committee. Her appointment
was announced in early October by Katharine Armstrong Idsal,
chairman of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission.
"I was thrilled to be chosen for this great honor," Patterson
commented, "I can't wait to see the projects that will be
put before us."
"I hope I can serve as a responsible representative for
the state's bicycling community," Patterson said.
According to Idsal, the State Parks Advisory Committee was
created to consider and develop recommendations on state
park issues, as well as to act as a sounding board on state
park related initiatives and actions.Idsal said she formed
the committee to focus on the variety of challenges facing
the state's park system.
"I feel that input from interest and knowledgeable citizens
can be very valuable in assisting the commission as it prepares
to meet these challenges," Idsal wrote in the letter informing
Patterson of her appointment.
The committee will meet quarterly, and its members are non-salaried.
A longtime cycling advocate, Patterson has served as TBC's
board chair since June of 1997. She is also a Texas state
representative to the International Mountain Bicycle Association
(IMBA), is PayDirt administrator for and a founding member
of Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association (TMBRA), is a
race official for the National Off Road Bicycle Association
(NORBA) and until recently was the newsletter editor, publicity
director and treasurer for the Dallas Off Road Bicycle Association
(DORBA).
She is currently the comptroller for Phillips Brothers Management
Company, Inc. of Dallas. TBC congratulates Patterson on
her appointment.
